ABOUT TAY
autoBiography:
My name is Tay Doluisio (TayTheTomboy)and I am starting my career as a Filmmaker & Photographer, with an interest and focus in documenting and creating media content focused on alternative lifestyles, queer media and various countercultures & subcultures. I am currently based in Denton, TX and the surrounding DFW area!
I was raised in the suburbs of Austin, TX, surrounded consistently by culture and art- never realizing that pursuing “the arts” was my dream and my passion in life.
I decided in 2019 to pursue a Criminal Justice degree, but then realized at about 75% through my schooling, that I wanted to shift into a more creative and expressive career, and that it wasn’t the correct fit for my trajectory. After the completion of my first degree and a rough year of rotating through different jobs, I decided to go back to school to pursue a second bachelor’s degree in Media Arts, where I am now thriving and living my life to the fullest extent.
I recently have been exploring more with my gender identity & sexuality within the last few months. I truly love to express myself in an androgynous and masculine way. I have always felt like a tomboy, but I have suppressed these thoughts and feelings since I was very young. But those days of trying to hide that part of myself, I decided to use to my advantage and have proudly reclaimed the “tomboy” label as my own. I have identified as bisexual since 2021, and I have recently come out publicly in June of 2025. I am currently working on myself, finding my rhythm and educating myself on different gender identities and expressions!
Skills
Below are skills that I try to execute & display in my work (both through my personal ventures and college career):
Directing & Leading Projects: I have lead my personal projects and have taken on various roles in projects such as the director, producer, talent, camera operator, set designer, editor & writer, etc. - as I am a team of one at the moment and plan/execute my projects on my own. I have also helped direct, produce and write several student film projects!
Digital Camera Work: I am in the process of mastering the art, but I have a general idea on how to work a Digital Camera (Sony Alpha ZV-E10). I know how to switch film/photo modes, adjust ISO, apply filters, adjust focus/focus areas, white balance, adjust apertures, etc. I have used this camera for every project posted on my Instagram profile and use the camera the most often.
Cinematic Camera Work: I am in the process of learning the ropes and mastering using cinematic cameras in my college career. I have had hands-on experience handling Panasonic EVA 1 and Sony NX800 cameras.
Sound/Audio: I have very limited experience using a boom mic, lavier mics, wireless microphones & a 633 Sound Device.
Modeling: I have brief modeling experience in and with personal projects & photoshoots.
Acting: I have brief acting experience in various and small roles in student films and my own personal projects. I have not yet mastered the art in full, but I’m willing to experiment in the future. I recently was a lead actor in two student films and a minor character in another (in the process of adding the short films to my portfolio).
Editing: I am in the process of fully learning the workings of Adobe Cloud based platforms (such as Premiere Pro & Photoshop). I have basic knowledge of and on the platforms and am constantly gaining experience with the software. I have edited or helped in that process with several student films. I utilize Canva as well for graphics, in which I have decent experience using the website.
